3Cinteractive, Pop2Life, and Clear Channel Partner to Promote Katy Perry’s Private Pool Party

3Cinteractive recently partnered with Pop2Life, a full service creative marketing, promotions, and public relations agency, and Clear Channel Communications, the largest owner of full power AM, FM, and short wave radio stations for a unique promotion.  Together the three companies launched a contest giveaway featuring singer-songwriter and pop star Katy Perry (singer of the worldwide hits “I Kissed a Girl” and “Hot N Cold”)

The 16-day sweepstakes was promoted on 47 Clear Channel Top 40 radio stations and online.  Radio listeners responded to on-air call-to-action by texting a time-specific keyword to the short code (the entries could also be made at the sweepstakes website).  Due to the popularity of Katy Perry, listener tune-in increased with text-in volume and 90 winners received a trip for two to Katy Perry’s pool party in Miami as well as passes to an advance screening of the movie, “The Proposal”.  The winner of the grand prize received not only a trip for two to Katy’s Private Pool Party at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach and tickets to “The Proposal” screening, but also a trip to Spain for her concert in Madrid.

With Pop2Life and Clear Channel, 3Cinteractive implemented a unique mobile campaign that drew almost 975,000 total entries of which 95% were text messages.  In addition, the campaign drew nearly 116,000 unique entries of which 96% were unique mobile entries.  The strength of the campaign created by 3Cinteractive, Pop2Life, and Clear Channel led to the gain of over 111,000 new contacts for the mobile database.

Nokia: Now With Intel Inside

Intel® is gaining serious momentum in the mobile market, first with their February announcement of a partnership with LG®, and now with their new mobile-computing partnership with Nokia®.

Nokia, reportedly the largest smart phone manufacturer in the world, will immediately begin collaboration with Intel on new devices that run on the company’s Atom™ processor.  This collaboration has great potential — on paper, at least — for the evolution of mobile devices.

Not only will Nokia benefit by gaining access to new technology, Intel will also be able to license mobile phone technology from it’s new partner to offer to its other customers, perhaps even to LG.  This possibility is staggering; combined, Nokia and LG control almost 50% of the mobile phone market worldwide.  This share makes Intel’s theoretical reach across mobile a powerful one.

The partnership also places Intel in a key position in light of Apple®’s 2008 purchase of PA Semiconductor.  Apple, which uses Intel chips for its Mac® computers, does not use Intel for its iPhone™ or iPod® portable devices.

The Nokia—Intel joint venture goes beyond smart phones, however; both have stated that they are looking to invent a whole new mobile platform, such as Mobile Internet Devices (MIDs).  It will be very interesting to see how the Nokia—Intel partnership develops and especially how it influences the likes of Apple, AMD, Microsoft® (provider of Windows® Mobile) and Google™ (maker of Android) to progress in the development of their mobile technologies.

3Ci’s Jeremy Martin at the Mobile Marketer “Pre-MMF Party” in New York

3Cinteractive was at the Mobile Marketing Forum (MMF) in New York, ostensibly the flagship event of the Mobile Marketing Association’s (MMA’s) on-going series. The recent numbers from prove how valuable an event the MMF is: mobile is projected to have total revenues of over $12 billion by 2013.

In addition to panel discussions on the role of mobile in the Presidential campaign, how mobile is critical to social media (but is the same true in reverse?), as well as questioning what is the advertising agency ROI (a panel moderated by our own Jeremy Martin, Vice President of Business Development), there was also fun to be had. Mobile Marketer kindly held an attendee party at their offices, and guess who showed up on camera?
